Trained at UCF and Johns Hopkins. Akash is passionate about providing equitable and affordable healthcare access to all individuals. He aspires for mental health care to contribute to social justice, greater community solidarity, and the growth of human potential. He enjoys reading and researching about neuroscience, theory of mind, psychopharmacology, and the cutting edge in psychiatry. In his spare time he likes to spend time in nature or at the beach, travel, and go on mindfulness retreats. He is a registered yoga teacher and has practiced Zen and Vipassana meditation and took courses with monks trained by the Dalai Lama. He is experienced in providing psychiatric services in multiple settings including community and academic hospitals and outpatient clinics, VA, hospice, nursing homes, state and forensic institutions. Trained at UCSF and Alameda County Trauma Center. Over 20 years of experience as an attending physician. Expertise in ketamine administration with additional certification in Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy from Clinica Synaptica Barcelona and a Certificate of Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research from California Institute of Integral Studies in 2025.
